Bologna digitale: il modello 3D di Palazzo d'Accursio
Nell'ambito della rassegna "Impara l'Arte... La domenica dei Musei Civici d'Arte Antica 2010-2011", domenica 3 Aprile 2011 alle ore ore 16.30 presenteremo le attività del laboratorio Silab della Facoltà di Ingegneria e come è stato realizzato il modello 3D in stampa tridimensionale del Palazzo d'Accursio a Bologna.

3D Arch 2011 a Trento
Dal 2 al 5 marzo scorsi si è svolto il congresso "3D-ARCH'2011 3D Virtual Reconstruction and Visualization of Complex Architectures" che ha visto raccogliersi a Trento diversi studiosi da molti paesi, aventi in comune l'interesse di ricerca per le tematiche della scansione laser tridimensionale e della fotogrammetria digitale.
Simone Garagnani e Anna Maria Manferdini hanno presentato un articolo dal titolo "Digital exhibition and fruition of archaeological finds". Durante la presentazione è stato proiettato un filmato in stereoscopia anaglifica raffigurante la situla Arnoaldi, reperto di studio fornito cortesemente dal Museo Civico Archeologico del Comune di Bologna, nelle persone della direttrice Paola Giovetti e della Dott.ssa Federica Guidi.
SGI VW540 @ TC Labs
On january 11 1999, Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI) announced a new line of "desktop workstations for visual computing" which could take advantage of the power and flexibility of Microsoft Windows NT.
These workstations, the Silicon Graphics 320 and the Silicon Graphics 540, were custom-designed for high end "visual computing" applications such as video production, 3D medical imaging, Computer Aided Design (CAD), film and television special effects, and topography mapping. They were the first SGI machines hosting Intel Pentium III Xeon CPUs and executind an operating system different from IRIX.
A 540 visual workstation arrived some days ago at TC Labs, enriching our SGI TC Project collection. Now we have an Octane, an O2, a Fuel and of course the new VW540 beast. The system comes from Germany and, although in good conditions, has not any OS installed. This is the running commentary of how I tried to revive it from the ashes.
